After two books dedicated to cocktails, Rose Simard has written her first book in which food takes center stage, this time in front of the glass. Organized by season to reflect the abundance of ingredients throughout the year, the book offers a pairing for each recipe: an original cocktail created by the author, or a wine or beer suggestion to complement the dish. Each seasonal chapter also features a guest from the culinary world: Antonin Mousseau-Rivard (Le Mousso) for summer, Vincent Dion-Lavallée (Au Pied de Cochon, La Cabane d'à Côté) for autumn, Colombe St Pierre (Chez Saint-Pierre) for winter, and the Ferreira family (Café Ferreira) for spring. Each shares their own vision of the aperitif and contributes four exclusive recipes.
The book also stands out for its physical form: thick format, high-quality paper, and a clothbound cover. The photographs, all taken in real kitchen settings, are by Nesrine Brikci, a photographer and longtime collaborator of the author, now based in Paris. The result: a true reference work, designed to stand the test of time, somewhere between a cookbook and a collector's item.

Rose is a communicator, content creator, and founder of 1 or 2 Cocktails, a platform dedicated to the art of cocktail making. Through her various projects, she democratizes the art of aperitifs and emphasizes the pleasure of entertaining with a refined yet accessible approach, aiming to encourage people to spend more quality time with family and friends. Passionate about local products and artisans, she has authored several books. Happy hour in Quebec (2019) et Drink Quebec (2021). She also hosts Low heat, a podcast about the restaurant and gastronomy industry.
Her dream aperitif would take place on the shores of the Mediterranean, ideally in a secluded spot with a breathtaking sunset view. There would be oysters, champagne, olives, and fresh produce from the market. The moment would be shared with her partner, her daughter, and any family members or friends who had joined her on the trip.
