Expansion of its factory in Stoneham

Quebec, Monday March 3, 2025The La Souche microbrewery reaffirms its position as a leader in the brewing sector and realizes its ambitions for the future with the strategic expansion of its production plant in Stoneham. Thanks to an investment of $2,5 million, the Quebec company is reaching a decisive milestone by ensuring sustainable and innovative growth. This ambitious development aims to optimize logistical efficiency by centralizing activities, reduce the ecological footprint and ensure the sustainability of a brand already recognized as a flagship of Quebec craft beer.

A structural expansion and major improvements
With an expansion of 8 square feet, LA SOUCHE BREWERY has optimized its infrastructure for more efficient and better controlled production. The repatriation of the finished product warehouse to the plant eliminates dependence on an external site and improves logistics. The addition of a Chai (storage and fermentation space where the beer is aged) now allows beers to be stored and aged in oak barrels, thus enriching their aromatic complexity. A new cold room extends the life of finished products, while a room dedicated to canning limits the risks of contamination and ensures greater control of production. This investment also improved ventilation and humidity control, particularly in the Chai, while integrating a geothermal system that reduces heating costs by 60 to 70%. The expansion was designed to integrate harmoniously with the community and natural setting of Stoneham, while respecting nearby residents.

Environmental excellence as a driving force
At the heart of this expansion, LA SOUCHE BREWERY relies on eco-responsible initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. By optimizing its logistics and centralizing its production, the company significantly reduces transport routes, thereby reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. LA SOUCHE BREWERY is also implementing sustainable agricultural practices, integrating a large agri-food garden and hop growing on its site, thus strengthening its autonomy and its commitment to greener and more local production. In addition, cereal residues, previously sent to the eco-centre, are now reused for animal feed, thus contributing to a circular economy model.

Cutting-edge brewing expertise
Founded by two co-owners from the scientific community, LA SOUCHE BREWERY stands out for its rigorous and innovative approach to brewing. Equipped with a state-of-the-art research laboratory and a unique aging library, Stoneham’s facilities allow the company to continually perfect its recipes and exceed industry quality standards. Each beer that comes out of it is the result of a balance between traditional know-how and an avant-garde scientific approach. LA SOUCHE BREWERY reinvents itself with each of its brews by promoting a multitude of styles and ways of making beer while using carefully selected ingredients.

From Quebec to the international: a growing success
In five years, LA SOUCHE BREWERY has doubled its sales, quadrupled its points of sale and conquered the regions of Quebec with its distinctive beer products, even going so far as to gain international recognition. Today, more than 1200 retailers and establishments offer its beers, testifying to the growing popularity of the brand. Its recognition extends beyond borders: LA SOUCHE BREWERY has been accumulating accolades at the World Beer Awards, the Brussels Beer Challenge and the World Beer Cup. Its NEIPA forestière was also voted the best 100% Quebec beer at the 2024 congress of the Association des microbrasseries du Québec. Also over the last five years, La Souche's production has doubled and thanks to the expansion, everything is now in place to ensure the stability and sustainability of the company.
