Signature Events
This Wednesday, September 18th, the McCord Stewart Museum is hosting a highly popular evening dedicated to the history of our clothing as part of Montreal Fashion Week. During this festive evening, held from 5:30 p.m. onwards, guests are invited to wear an item of clothing that tells a unique individual, family, or cultural story. The McCord Stewart Museum is the guardian of the Costume, Fashion, and Textiles collection, which includes over 28,000 garments and accessories made or worn primarily in Montreal over the past three centuries. Access to the ongoing exhibitions, including « Portraits and Fashion – Photographers from Quebec Beyond Borders, » in its final chance, and the exhibition by artist-in-residence Michaëlle Sergile, « To All Those Who Were Not Named, » will be interactive. A round table hosted by Lolitta Dandoy and collaborative creations made with Mlle Geri from used clothing from the Chaînon Store will enliven the evening at the Museum.

On Thursday, September 19th, Mennillo Designs, a company specializing in sustainable Quebec swimwear, invites visitors into its world, showcasing its exclusive fall 2024 and winter 2025 collections in an all-inclusive resort atmosphere. Bar, buffet, shows, and animations throughout the evening will extend the pleasure! From 4 PM to 10 PM at Studio Noéma, the local company invites the public to join this unforgettable evening combining elegance, style, and festive ambiance, enhanced by a tropical chic dress code. On September 20th, from 11 AM to 8 PM, the « Inédition » Market by Inédit.e and its local collaborators will create, for one festive evening, a collective vintage/second-hand market with merchants and Montreal fashion artists specially invited for the occasion. Drinks, snacks, live music, and entertainment will be on the agenda, free for everyone!

Finally, on September 21st, in the prestigious setting of 377 Laurier Ave W, Geneviève Borne, Heidi Hollinger, and Rhodie Lamour will parade on two floors, dressed by the top brands and local designers of the avenue. The public present will enjoy bites offered by Fiorellino, an open bar by Dieu du Ciel, and music by DJ set Rondo Banks. A pop-up shop on the ground floor will bring together boutiques 5e Avenue, Ariane Carle, Henriette L, Isabelle Élie, Lace, Le Top Notch, Mélanie x Zoé, Manik Fashion, and Maska. A fashion evening not to be missed!

Donation Boxes
Montreal Fashion Week is also returning this year with its Donation Boxes project, with circularity still at the heart of the organization’s concerns. Thus, during the third week of September, a circuit of permanent boxes will be launched across the city of Montreal. The Donation Boxes will mainly collect used clothing, but small items can also be deposited. To realize its vision, Montreal Fashion Week partners with the charity Le Support, founded in 1988, which raises funds through the collection and sale of clothing and household items to ensure the development of the Quebec Society for Intellectual Disability while supporting a greener planet.

This initiative earned Montreal Fashion Week the Cultural, Sports, and Festivals Events Distinction Award from Tourisme Montréal in 2023.

Items can be deposited at the following locations:
– Concertation MTL: 425 De Maisonneuve Blvd West
– Belle et Rebelle: 6583A Saint-Hubert Street
– ESG UQAM Superior School of Fashion: 280 Saint Catherine Street East

QUEBEC’S FASHION INDUSTRY IN NUMBERS
“This year, Montreal Fashion Week brings together over 200 organizations involved in a total of 130 activations. Last year, more than 20,000 visitors came to meet our industry, which fuels more than 77,000 jobs in Quebec, including 50,000 in Montreal, thanks to 6,500 employers across the province,” highlights Mathieu St-Armand Lavoie, Executive Director of the Montreal Fashion Cluster. Generating $7.9 billion in direct and indirect economic impacts for the GDP and $1.4 billion in revenue for both levels of government, the fashion industry deserves a dedicated week to showcase Quebec’s creatives.

“This week is unique because of the exclusivity of local brands. It is essential to invite the population to encourage, but above all, to take an interest beyond local fashion, which is complete and competes with major brands from elsewhere,” explains Vickie Joseph, President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, founder of V Kosmétik, and co-founder of Groupe 3737.
